ABOUT THIS YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

Bali as it was always meant to be experienced.

High above Les Village on Bali's quiet north shore, the land rises toward Mount Batur while the ocean holds the horizon below. This is Bumi Cinta — clean mountain air, a sacred old tree whose roots run beneath the property, a living waterfall close by, and architecture raised from bamboo, reclaimed wood, and stone in conversation with the land rather than imposed on it. It is here that you'll spend your sixteen days, inside an open-air shala facing the sea, a quiet refuge far from the clamour of touristic Bali.

The training itself is built on the same principle that shapes the retreat center around it: Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese understanding that a good life depends on harmony between people, nature, and spirit. Your mornings move through asana, pranayama, and meditation as the light comes up over the water. Afternoons turn toward the craft of teaching — sequencing, hands-on assists, anatomy, and the philosophy that gives it all a spine. Evenings, when the cycle calls for it, open into ceremony.

You'll sleep in Bumi Cinta's barefoot bamboo bungalows, drink regenerative spring water filtered straight from the mountain above you, and eat three vegetarian meals a day grown with the same care as everything else on this land. And unlike any other training, this one closes on a date on the Balinese calendar that only comes once a year: Nyepi, the island’s Day of Silence.

“Bumi Cinta offers fresh filtered spring water to all its guests, from a mountain spring on the sacred land close to the retreat.”

— Nyepi, the Day of Silence

This training is unique in that it falls on the Balinese New Year, Nyepi: the Day of Silence, when the entirety of the island shuts down for a full day of contemplation, meditation, and rest.

We join the tradition on the last day, as a profound and powerful opportunity to integrate the teachings in full silence — with an optional cleanse offered to anyone who wishes to go deeper.

 About Bumi Cinta

A guardianship of the land.

Bumi Cinta sits on the mountainside above Les Village on Bali's north shore, between Mount Batur and the sea — Earth Love in practice, with wide open ocean views from all over the property. Three guardians anchor the property: the mountain, offering pure spring water from its peaks; an ancient mother tree, roots running beneath the land; and Yeh Mempeh, “Flying Waters,” one of Bali's tallest single-tier waterfalls, close enough to visit on your days off.

Every structure here was raised by listening to the land rather than imposing on it — barefoot bamboo bungalows tucked into the forest, an open-air yoga shala in bamboo and hardwood facing the ocean, and a manta-shaped gathering hall built from bamboo, reclaimed wood, and stone. It is tended daily by the village that built it, and guests describe arriving as coming home to a place they didn't know existed.

Quick facts:

  • Setting: North Bali mountainside, between Mt. Batur and the ocean

  • Stay: Barefoot bamboo bungalows, shared or private

  • Water: Filtered spring water from the mountain above the retreat

  • Wellness: Spring-fed pools, dry & infrared sauna, steam room, cold plunge, massage

  • Philosophy: Tri Hita Karana — harmony between people, nature, and spirit
