CJ Ananda

Co-Founder of Pura Vidya and Present Moment Retreat, and ERYT 500 certified, CJ Ananda is a renowned teacher of yoga, dance and meditation. She has combined her joy of these self-healing therapies with her experience as a wellness leader and healing practitioner to create international retreats and trainings.

4327_genevievelocas+34_1500x1000.jpg

Ananda facilitates 200 hour and 300 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, Shamanic Cleanses and Transformational Retreats giving each person the heartfelt attention and direct facilitation that cultivates ecstatic, healing and magical experiences. As a teacher, she sees each of her classes as an opportunity to hold sacred ceremonial space.

Integrating her teachings and passions, Ananda has developed a system of intentional-based healing that draws on the philosophy that we are all a part of a collective life force that is driving us towards greater consciousness. By exploring our gifts and expanding our relationship with higher Self, we come into alignment with our inner purpose of Awakening. Through our collaborative efforts and unified intentions, we magnify the richness of this life's experience.

Ananda and her husband, Coby created Pura Vidya as a way to invite individuals to explore the fusion of the two mystical traditions of Yoga and Shamanism and to step into their Wisdom of Self (Vidya). Yoga (union with the Divine) and Shamanism (interaction with the spirit world) are both practices designed to grant us access to the infinite wisdom we carry within ourselves.

She believes in the Hopi saying: “We are the ones that we’ve been waiting for.”  Based on this belief, she trusts that we are each here to expand into the greatness of who we are and who we came here to be. She believes that as we more deeply connect to our inner essence, our Spirit Guides and our callings, we connect to the wholeness of All That Is. And it is from this place of truth, that we can serve all beings from our highest capacity. She is inspired to inspire... and to continue this journey moment to moment, breath to breath.

Ananda currently travels between Peru, Guatemala and Troncones, Mexico, the home of Present Moment Retreat, where she holds sacred space for individuals and groups as they journey toward Self Realization and Spiritual Oneness. AHO!

Jiya Julia Randall

“Spirit of the wind, lifting my wings
Spirit of the river, running through my veins
Spirit of the fire, warming my hands
Spirit of the trees, guarding this land."

Earth Song by Jiya Julia Randall

julia randall.jpg

Jiya Julia Randall is one of the founders of international yoga school and retreats organization Kula Collective and a guide for empowered and conscious living.

Jiya is a deeply connected leader who roots her teaching in the healing energy of nature.  Her teaching invites students to explore their own, unique unfolding, through profound awareness and trust in the wisdom of the Self.  Through her studies with teachers and shamans across the world, Julia has developed a powerful sense of energetic connection and a strong set of philosophical and intuitive teachings, which she shares through creative hatha and yin yoga, sacred fire and medicine ceremonies, kirtan and healing therapies.  Jiya is also a talented musician and sound healer, who seeks out native chants and medicine songs from around the world to complement her work.

Jiya is YA-certified at the ERYT-500 level and has facilitated both intensive and module-format teacher trainings at RYT-200 and RYT-300 levels for several years, through multiple schools.  Following her degree in Physics at Imperial College, London, Julia worked as an Energy Consultant and part time copywriter and editor in London, UK, before moving to Central America in 2009 to pursue a life centered on yoga and holistic health.  British by birth, Jiya is now based in Bali and teaches in Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Greece, USA, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Peru.

Julia's powerful connection to nature, passion for music, writing and creative expression, aptitude for the natural healing arts and scientific background have given her a thoroughly holistic understanding of yoga and its philosophy.  Her colorful experience of the world comes through in her unique metaphors, powerful visual meditations and shamanic journeys.  Her passion for sound is felt as she shares medicine songs in savasana, heals with sound tools in the deepest poses, and enlivens hearts through vibrant Kirtan circles.

Her compassionate teaching style invites students to explore their own experience and understand the process of healing from a personal, unique standpoint, calling on many rich and varied techniques to bring the entire Being back into balance.  In all her offerings, alongside yoga, Julia specializes in holistic health, bringing in a range of practices including energy healing; shiatzu, massage and aromatherapy; sound healing; shamanic healing, fire and cacao ceremony; pre- and post-natal care; nutrition and herbalism; and personal coaching.

Alongside trainings, Julia holds space at her own international workshops, ceremonies and transformational retreats through her project CreateSpace, which focuses on guiding participants to find their own sacred creative expression and unique essence, whether in yoga teaching or in other forms such as art, music or writing.  Jiya is a DONA-certified doula (birthing assistant) and offers private coaching for holistic wellness, yoga teaching and personal career/life planning (please contact Jiya directly for more information). Away from her teaching life she is also a writer and singer/songwriter and is currently creating an album and a novel based on her own spiritual journey.

A strong element of Julia's intention is to empower her students to understand healing as a personal creative process, intertwined with self-development and opportunity. The pursuit of wellness is ultimately the work of finding harmony and balance with all the components of What Is.  Yoga not only develops bodily awareness but also reaches into the mental and deeply into the energetic, helping people to delve inside and explore their own, unique unfolding.

"Yoga is so much about awareness – from the pressure of your baby toes on the ground, to the last few molecules of air leaving your nostrils, to the sensation of openness as the deepest emotions release. Extending this type of awareness to the world around me has given me an intimate relationship with my surroundings, which I seek to share as I step along my path as seeker and guide of holistic health. When learning to teach yoga, awareness of energetic space and the subtleties of healing are essential to offering a class with depth, and this forms the center of my intention in all my offerings."

Coby Hadas

While traveling abroad during University, Coby met a Peruvian healer who liberated him from the material realm. “Now that you have entered the Spiritual world”, she told him, “you’ll never have to concern yourself with money or materials, they will manifest effortlessly. Your new path is a spiritual one wrought with its own challenges.”

4327_genevievelocas 144_1500x1000.jpg

Coby took this belief to heart, starting a spiritual journey that took him several times around the globe. He spent many years in Latin America reconnecting with the Earth, a connection often severed in modern suburbia.

He sailed the Caribbean, learning just how deeply one can relax. He led groups of teenagers through dozens of countries and across five different continents. He spent much time in India where he lived 'Baba Life', renouncing material comforts and exploring the boundaries of meditation.

But between each chapter of his story, he would always return to his Shamanic teacher in Peru for study and guidance. Coby’s deep rooted interest in Shamanism found its perfect complement when he married Yogini, CJ Ananda. Their combined passion is to find harmony in the combination of these two ancient healing traditions.

Together, Coby and Ananda founded Pura Vidya, whose mission is two fold... to make the ancient traditions of Yoga and Shamanism better understood and more accessible to the West. and to teach cleansing techniques in order to quiet the mind and deepen meditation, for by quieting the mind we will live in harmony with our soul's purpose. www.puravidya.com

Cheralee Jones

Cher is a woman of the Earth, deeply connected to all of the elements. In addition to her devotion to the teachings and wisdom of her yogic lineage, Cher regards witnessing the rhythms of nature as a vital part of her practice. Cher is an artist and musician and weaves her artistry into all aspects of life.

Cher found her way to the healing power of yoga after having undergone several severe physical injuries during her adolescence, her permanent spinal injury being the worst. She found that precise alignment in asana combined with genuine inner inquiry greatly supported her healing process and restoration of her body structure. With time and devotion to her practice, she discovered a deeper wholeness, presence, and aliveness in life overall.

"Presence connects us with our breath; the breath anchors us into presence. I believe all of life is a sacred ceremony, every moment and every breath. The lineage teachings I carry come from Tirumalai Krishnamacarya. My teachers studied extensively with T.K.V. Desikachar, B.K.S. Iyengar, and Sri Pathabi Jois, 3 of Krishnamacarya's students who created 3 very different yogic systems that spread throughout the world. The transmission I bring forth is a fusion of these 3 systems (Yini, Iyengar, and Ashtanga Yoga), infused with the feminine wisdom of my womb and our Earth Mother. I share yoga as a sustainable self-healing practice. If we allow it to, this practice and way of life will help us dissolve blockages and re-align with our true nature; Bliss. From this space, the clarity of why we came here to Earth at this time in these particular bodies can naturally arise.” – Cher Joy

Joel Davis

Joel was born and raised in Denver but has spent the last 5 years living and traveling abroad and just recently decided to plant roots in Asheville, NC with his partner Jessica.  Yoga came into his life at a young age and it quickly became a perfect supplement to his athletic trainings as a lacrosse player all throughout high school, college and beyond.  Although it was the physical practice of yoga that drew Joel in, it was the mental and more subtle aspects of the practice that made Joel fall in love with yoga for life.

After attending studio classes on and off for years in the Denver area, his first glimpse into the more internal world of yoga and meditation was a vipassana silent meditation retreat in Thailand in 2015.  From that point on Joel’s world shifted and he knew there was so much more to learn, discover and experience within the body and mind.  While Joel is still passionate about the physical movement, he has discovered that the real magic of yoga lies within the mind and most importantly within the heart.  He has attended teacher trainings in Thailand, Peru & Bali and has taught yoga at various places all over the world.  Off the mat Joel also works as an accountant, has an MBA in Finance, loves to travel and has a passion for playing music.

He has a warm inviting smile and personality, and he creates a safe space that allows students to feel comfortable and to truly be themselves. You can expect his classes and teaching style to be challenging, fun, creative, intentional, meditative, and almost always even includes a little live music! Joel has a dedicated asana and meditation practice and has a passion for sharing the gifts he has received from the practice of yoga with the community around him!

 Tuva Roskar

Tuva’s first meeting with yoga was as a young child, when her mum came home from the second hand market with a yoga book for children. Tuva immediately immersed herself in the exotic images of different postures, loving how they often were related to animals and the natural world. She rediscovered her love for yoga as a teenager, fascinated by the strong discipline of Ashtanga Yoga.

Her first training was Vinyasa flow based, tailored to the fitness world, where she started teaching in 2013 alongside her studies in psychology. Her second training was based in Tantric Hatha Yoga, Mantra, and Devotional Song, which opened a whole new realm within her understanding of Yoga as a path of prayer. She completed her advanced 300 hr certification with The Kula Collective in 2018. That same year she discovered her fascination for plants and their powerful medicine of healing. Tuva has been studying and working intimately with the plants within the Shipibo lineage in the Amazon since then, where she now facilitates retreats and traditional plant dietas with her teachers at their medicine centre in Peru.

In addition to her yogic path, Tuva also works as a clinical psychologist online. Tuva has been sharing her practice and love for yoga in yoga studios, retreat centers, festivals, and in the corporate world. Her main intention is to create and hold a space, with the invitation to meet ourselves deeply, and come home to our hearts.
